Meet The Mayors

While the history of Ringwood’s mines and manors are well-documented, its leadership has remained obscure. While some towns proudly display portraits or at least lists of past mayors, Ringwood’s political lineage has been something of a mystery.

Since our incorporation in 1918, Republicans have held power for 102 years, while Democrats have been in charge for only six.

Some might argue that since we all love this town, Ringwood’s long-standing Republican leadership must be doing a good job, right?

Not necessarily.

The things we cherish most—our natural setting, scenic parks and historic manors—exist because of state and county conservation, not local mandates and our unique lake communities thrive thanks to countless volunteers. When you look at the actual track record of a century of Republican control; you find a quarry that costs the town more than it pays in taxes, a toxic Superfund site that will be here for generations, and decades of decay at Fieldstone.

Could this be the reason borough hall’s legacy hasn’t been celebrated?
