As we enjoy the natural beauty of Ringwood, we must never forget that Upper Ringwood is also home to a superfund site and the Turtle Clan. During the 1960s, the Ford Motor Company dumped toxic waste into the former iron mines, threatening the environment, and the health of Native Americans who lived there–whose ancestry goes back thousands of years.
The town of Ringwood and Ford made decisions that guarantee that the toxicity will remain in perpetuity, with unknown consequences in the future.
